ABOUT ISLAND ACUPUNCTURE & CHERYL BLANKENSHIP

Island Acupuncture is the only health care practice in the Outer Banks that specializes solely in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We have been serving the Outer Banks since 2001 and will continue for many years to come.

Cheryl Blankenship received a Masters Degree of Oriental Medicine from The National College of Oriental Medicine (NCOM) in Orlando,Florida. She completed an accelerated program consisting of 4 years of coursework comprised of 1825 hours of didactic classes and 855 hours of clinical practice.

She was initially trained in massage therapy at Dr. Jay Scherer’s Academy of Natural Healing in 1993 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Following her massage training she practiced as a full time massage therapist at The Therapy Group at Breckenridge in Breckenridge, Colorado.

In 1996 she also began working with Dhanyo Merillat-Bowers at Healing Touch Massage Therapy in Buxton, NC. Cheryl is certified by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. She is also certified in Facial Rejuvenation. Cheryl is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of North Carolina. In addition she is certified by the NCCAOM in acupuncture and by the NCTMB in massage therapy.
